The technique has been applied in the study of mathematics and logic since before Aristotle, though analysis as a formal concept is a relatively recent development. The word is a transcription of the ancient Greek ἀνάλυσις (analusis, "a breaking up", from ana- "up, throughout" and lysis "a loosening"). Analysis as an independent subject was created in the 17th century during the European scientific revolution. As a formal concept, the method has variously been ascribed to Alhazen, René Descartes (Discourse on the Method) and Galileo Galilei. Well i haven't read the book but ive written quite a few analytic pieces so I can try and help you in that department. It definitelyy depends what kind of approach your taking when writing an analysis. One important thing would be to look at themes or symbolism throughout the novel ( you can look at sparknotes for some ideas of themes for that specific novel). How do certain symbols relate to other things in the novel? how do they tie everything together? You could also talk about things like style in the novel. Every author has a style, how does this his/her style improve the book, or relate to the book? Look at things such as detail, you can talk about why the author describes things the way he/she does.
